Carnival Corporation Breaks Ground on Massive Miami Headquarters, Unveils “Carnival Place Day”

A new chapter is beginning for Carnival Corporation—and it starts with a groundbreaking.

The world’s largest cruise company has officially launched construction on its future global headquarters in Miami’s Waterford Business District, signaling a major long-term investment in South Florida and the cruise industry’s global hub.

But this wasn’t just another corporate ceremony.

As executives, community leaders, and partners gathered on-site, the company revealed its new address—887 Carnival Place—and received a rare honor: Miami-Dade County formally declared May 1 as “Carnival Place Day.”

A Campus Designed for the Future of Work

Set to open in 2028, the sprawling headquarters will bring together more than 2,000 employees under one roof—uniting Carnival’s North American shoreside teams in a single, purpose-built environment.

The scale is significant: roughly 700,000 square feet of workspace, including training and rehearsal facilities for onboard performers, collaborative hubs, and modern office design focused on flexibility.

Green space, advanced tech infrastructure, and adaptable work areas are all part of the vision—built not just for today’s workforce, but for how teams will operate in the future.

“A Natural Next Step” After 50 Years

For CEO Josh Weinstein, the moment carries deeper meaning.

“This isn’t just a beginning—it’s the next step in a 50-year journey in South Florida,” he said, pointing to the company’s long-standing roots in the region.

He also acknowledged the significance of the county’s recognition, calling the “Carnival Place Day” proclamation a meaningful symbol of the company’s connection to the community.

A Big Win for Miami-Dade

Local officials see the project as more than a headquarters—it’s an economic engine.

“This represents a bold investment in our future,” said Daniella Levine Cava, highlighting job creation, innovation, and Miami’s continued status as the Cruise Capital of the World.

Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis echoed that sentiment, emphasizing long-term benefits for local families, workers, and small businesses.

What Happens Next

With support from Cushman & Wakefield and construction led by Brasfield & Gorrie, work is already underway. Consulting firm Solutions Builder Inc. is also involved in the project.

If all goes as planned, the new global headquarters will open in 2028—marking one of the most significant corporate developments in Miami in recent years.
