c: CLIA

THE NUMBER OF MASSAGERS IN THE YEAR 2024 OF 34,6 MILLION WILL BY 2025 BE 37,7 A  ALLTIME RECORD REKORD.

A record that has been achieved thanks to an increasingly varied offer, more modern ships, alternative itineraries and innovative trends.

According to the "State of the Cruise Industry" report published by Clia, the international association of cruise operators, the dynamism of the sector is reflected in passenger sentiment:

Over 80% of those who have been on a cruise before would like to go on board again soon, 66% of those who have never been on a cruise are willing to do so and, most importantly, for around a third of passengers (31%) it is their first time, highlighting the potential of the sector.

New cruise passengers are driving the industry's growth: 31% of passengers who boarded a cruise ship in the last two years were "first timers", a sign of the industry's ability to attract new customers.

Desire to cruise: 89% of those who have cruised before intend to repeat the experience. Among the "enthusiastic" are Millennials, attracted by the possibility of a vacation and the variety of experiences available

Multi-generational travel: Cruises offer experiences for people of all ages. One-third of cruise passengers travel in groups of two or more generations, while 28% travel in groups of three or more generations.

Wide choice: Cruise tourism satisfies many tastes, preferences and vacation desires. From family-friendly adventures to exclusive cultural trips, airlines are constantly adapting to the changing needs and desires of their passengers.

Cruises are generally booked well in advance, with cruise lines typically planning their itineraries at least two years in advance.

An innovative industry investing in the future:

The sector is pursuing a variety of sustainable alternative energy sources and investing in propulsion technologies with customizable conversion options to use low- or zero-emission fuels as they become widely available. More than 61% of CLIA's fleet is equipped to connect to shore power; this is expected to increase to 72% by 2028.

Local impact. 69% of cruise passengers choose to spend at least one night in a hotel before or after their cruise, and around half return on their own to the destinations visited during their cruise, with clear benefits for the local economy.
