Luxury cruise brand Emerald Cruises has officially marked the beginning of construction for its newest superyacht, the Emerald Xara, with a ceremonial first steel cutting at the Halong Shipyard facilities in Vietnam.

The milestone signals another major expansion for the rapidly growing Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet, as the company prepares to introduce its fifth luxury yacht in March 2028.

According to statements shared by the cruise line on its official social media channels, the Emerald Xara will debut with an ambitious 15-day maiden voyage from Hong Kong to Tokyo. Following the inaugural sailing, the vessel is scheduled to continue operations across Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and the spectacular Kimberley region of Australia — destinations that have become increasingly popular among upscale expedition and yacht-cruise travelers.

The new yacht continues Emerald Cruises’ strategy of combining boutique luxury experiences with immersive itineraries in some of the world’s most scenic coastal regions. While technical specifications for Emerald Xara have not yet been fully disclosed, the vessel is expected to follow the line’s modern superyacht concept featuring spacious suites, marina platforms, wellness facilities, and intimate guest capacities.

Emerald Cruises also highlighted the continued progress of its sister vessel, Emerald Raiya, which remains under construction ahead of its planned delivery in June 2027.

“We are grateful to our valued shipbuilding partners as construction of the Emerald Xara progresses and the Emerald Raiya continues to advance ahead of its delivery in June 2027,” the company stated.

The steel-cutting ceremony underscores the continued momentum in the luxury expedition and yacht cruise sector, where demand for smaller, destination-focused vessels continues to rise worldwide.
