Polferries, Unity Line and Euroafrica announced a strategic partnership that created a new company called Polsca Baltic Ferries.
"This marks the beginning of a new phase of harmonization among Polish ferry companies," said Polferries. "We are convinced that joint activities will open up new development opportunities and strengthen Poland's position in maritime transport."
A new joint venture was founded: PolSca Baltic Ferries
Arkadiusz Marchewka, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and responsible for the maritime economy, stated during a ceremony on Friday, May 16, that Poland has an ambitious plan to strengthen the position of Polish ferries against growing competition. "We need to make up for lost time in recent years."
Fleet expansion: The company plans to initially operate with a fleet of 10 ferries. Three additional vessels are currently under construction at the Remontowa Ship Repair Yard in Gdansk.
Unity Line
- Unity Line is operated by the state-owned company Polska Żegluga Morska and the private Euroafrica Shipping Lines (a Hass Holdings company). Both companies operate three ferries.
- Routes: Świnoujście-Ystad and Świnoujście-Trelleborg
Polferries
- Polferries is operated by Polska Żegluga Bałtycka and has 4 ferries in the Baltic Sea (and 1 charter ferry in the Mediterranean).
- Routes: Świnoujście-Ystad and Gdansk-Nynashamn lines.
Three new ferries are under construction. The first, the JANTAR UNITY, is scheduled for delivery this year and will be the first ship with the new branding. New routes/destinations will be announced.
