Secret Atlas new voyages to Antarctica and South Georgia, with departures beginning in October 2026.

Secret Atlas micro cruise concept prioritises authentic, small-group exploration. With only 42 Passengers on bord, guests can enjoy flexible itineraries tailored to wildlife sightings, reach remote areas inaccessible to larger ships, and spend more time ashore without long waits.

A highlight of the program is an exclusive Fly-Cruise from Puerto Natales, Chile, which includes a two-and-a-half-hour charter flight over the Drake Passage to King George Island. Departing from this Patagonian gateway – set against the backdrop of Torres del Paine National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – adds an immersive prelude to the polar safari.

Sailings will take place aboard the MV Polar Athena, an ice-strengthened expedition vessel equipped for polar navigation. Guests will have access to ensuite cabins, a lounge, restaurant, sauna, and hot tub, combining comfort with safety in challenging ice conditions.

Wildlife encounters will be central to the journeys, with opportunities to observe Gentoo penguins, elephant seals, orcas, and humpback whales in their natural habitats.

small-scale exploration

Michele D’Agostino, Co-Founder of Secret Atlas said, “At Secret Atlas we’ve built our entire philosophy around Expedition Micro Cruises because we believe the polar regions deserve to be explored slowly, respectfully, and in the smallest groups possible. By limiting our voyages to just 42 guests, we’re offering something that larger ships simply cannot: more time ashore, more space in zodiacs, and genuine freedom to follow wildlife and weather conditions as they unfold. It’s an experience that is highly personal, unhurried, and deeply immersive.

“This is the future of polar exploration, impactful experiences shared with a small community of like-minded explorers, led by experts and carried out while leaving the smallest footprint possible. The raw beauty of Antarctica and South Georgia experienced the way it should be.”

With its new Antarctic and South Georgia collection, Secret Atlas positions micro cruising as a new category of polar travel, combining intimacy, sustainability, and adventure for a growing segment of travellers seeking impactful experiences.
