They are a boom among thematic cruises and are so well geared towards commercialization that even many non-rockers are surprised to find out that they exist.
They have been made with great success from season to season, such as 70,000 tons of metal whose last year's issue, No. 9 !, which sailed on January 24, sold all its reserves once they were sold.
In general, it is not the shipping companies that organize this type of thematic cruise, but independent shipping companies that charter the ships. And so they spread, sometimes dedicated to a certain kind of music, tribes or cult bands like Kiss, Megadeth or Bon Jovi.

This five-day Full Metal Cruise will be the seventh annual edition and will depart on April 24, with a round itinerary to and from Mallorca (Spain) and Marseille (France) and Barcelona (Spain) as stopovers. The ship's infrastructure makes available to 2,500 guests 3 stages, 10 restaurants, 13 bars, billiards and swimming pools. Rates include all meals, with free bar options.
A themed tribute to Megadeth, legendary band that will also be on board. It will be released on October 13 from Los Angeles and will play San Diego (USA) and Ensenada (Mexico), to return to the port of departure six days later.
The ship will be the Norwegian Jewel, with capacity for up to 2300 passengers, specially prepared for major musical events at sea, but also equipped with basketball courts, gymnasium, swimming pool, and, of course, many restaurants and bars.
The other bands that will complete the theme of the cruise are Anthrax, Testament, Dragonforce, Oeverkill, and Doro, etc.
Few bands have been able to become a myth and still survive. One of them is Kiss, who will also be leading his own round-trip, from October 30 to November 4, sailing from Miami and Fort Lauderdale, playing Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas) and Falmouth (Jamaica), aboard the Norwegian Pearl
It has not been confirmed yet which bands will accompany Kiss this time, but in previous editions Skid Row, Steel Panther and Fozzy participated, among many others.
Another rock cruise that goes for its tenth edition, sailed from Galveston (Florida, USA) on January 26 and returned to the same port on January 31, after visiting the island of Cozumel and the coasts of Yucatan (Mexico ), on board the Carnival Valor.
The concerts included the performance of Papa Roach, Bullet For My Valentine, Suicidal Tendencies and many more, but as is customary in this case, there were also many activities and events related to the most representative of hard-rock.
The presale for the next edition is now open. It will be from 1 to 6 February, on another round cruiser, which will set sail from New Orleans, with Key West and Cozumel as stopovers.
For the last edition were on board the Independence of the Seas bands like Accept, Dark Funeral, Obituary Soulfly, and several more.
Also on a round cruise, they sailed on January 31 from Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) and reached Labadee (Haiti) to return five days later.
There are still no details on the tenth edition, which Andy 'The Skipper' Piller is already preparing for next year. But it is discounted that it will be another success.
From February 24 to March 1, a new floating version of this famous festival coped with the Mariner of the Seas during an itinerary that began in Miami and reached Ocho Rios (Jamaica) and Labadee (Haiti).
