Canary Island Naviera Armas signes order for a large Passenger Ferry from Barreras shipyard

Naviera Armas and Barreras shipyard today signed the contract for the construction of a ferry - type ship 190 meters long and up to 1,800 passengers, is built at the time of delivery, the largest of its kind in Spain. It is an improved version of Volcan del Teide and Volcan de Tinamar, which was delivered in January and June 2011 and on which various improvements were introduced.

Following the recent acquisition of Trasmediterránea, Naviera Armas relies on the Barreras shipyard in Galicia, where it has built most of its fleet.

Naviera Armas has become the merjor customer of Barreras Shipyard, which has carried out the construction of eight of its current ferries, among which are: Tinamar Volcano, Volcan del Teide, Tijarafe Volcano, Tamadaba Volcano, Taburiente Volcano or Volcán de Timanfaya, with more than 140 meters in length.

Within eight years, the Canary shipping company has installed eight newly built ships, which make up the largest share of passenger ships in Spain, in the bet chosen by a shipping company of the national industry.

Armas has another ship under construction, has ordered a new large fast ferry to the Australian company Incat. The new ship built for Naviera Armas, is the second ship of the new generation of 109 meter long high - speed catamaran series drilling waves sailing in European waters. The utilization of this catamaran is around 74 million euros and delivery is scheduled for early 2019.

Armas, a Canarian shipping company with 77 years of maritime history, continues to expand its fleet to improve the frequency, safety, comfort and quality of its services. Naviera Armas has thirteen Ro-Pax, Con-Ro and Cruise ships, the most modern fleet in Europe.
