Aqua Expeditions is highlighting Aqua Blu's new Indonesian explorations in the unexplored regions of West Papua and Asmat in November 2025, to swim with whale sharks, meet ancient tribesmen and hike through the green jungle interior with hidden waterfalls.

The ship will venture into that vibrant and remote region for the first time to undertake a series of new seven- and 12-night itineraries through largely unknown waters with five major attractions:

Explore Kaimana City

The expedition begins with a warm welcome from the team in Kaimana, a vibrant port city that acts as the capital of Kaimana Regency, a collection of 500 coastal islands, where there are ancient rock art cliffs, palm-fringed beaches, limestone karst islands and access to world-renowned dive sites.

Meet the Asmat tribe

The journey discovers the fascinating tribal groups of the Asmat region who have inhabited the swampy mangrove forests of Papua's remote southwestern coast for thousands of years. The guest will gain a deeper insight into the daily life and ancient customs of these once feared tribes. Along with expert guides, you visit longhouses, native dances, and exquisite arts and crafts.

Swimming in Momon's Kitikiti Waterfall

The spectacular destination is a gem waiting to be discovered in the Nusalasi Bay Coastal Park Conservation Area in West Papua. It arises from a large river that originates in the highlands of the jungle and as it moves downstream, it becomes an impressive natural fall towards the ocean. Passengers can take a dip in the clear, cool waters, swimming to the natural pool to enjoy a refreshing rainwater shower. Momon is also known for its excellent snorkelling and kayaking spots and exotic hornbills and endemic tree kangaroos can be spotted in the rainforest areas.

Cape Papisol and Bomberai Peninsula

At Cape Papisol, guests can embark on a hike upriver, starting on the island's white sand beaches, the trail winds through lush green forest to enjoy a panoramic view of the Bomberai Peninsula. This area is home to more than 300 species of birds, tree kangaroos, birds and the endangered leatherback turtle.

Swim with whale sharks in Triton Bay

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is to swim alongside whale sharks in the clear indigo waters of West Papua's Triton Bay. These gentle giants of the sea are attracted to schools of baitfish caught beneath bagans, traditional Indonesian fishing platforms. Local fishermen have developed a fascinating symbiotic relationship with these marine animals, known for their friendly behavior.

Finally, Aqua Expeditions invites you to take this tour at the Aqua Blu, where clients can enjoy gourmet dinners, curated by the famous Australian chef and Balinese restaurateur Benjamin Cross, inspired by Indonesian, European and Mediterranean cuisines, with recipes that They incorporate a variety of spices and flavors from the country, providing insight into the region's gastronomic traditions and history.
